It was with great hesitation that I tuned into “Grease: Live” on Fox last week. Don’t get me wrong—I love the “Grease” movie—but I assumed this new version could never live up to my favorite childhood movie. However, three seconds into the opening credits of Jessie J singing “Grease Is the Word,” and I was annoying my roommates by singing along. My inner child was singing and dancing all night long. And apparently I wasn’t the only one—12.18 million viewers tuned in for the program.
Of course, this led me to wonder: Is “Grease” the next big trend to make a resurgence? Everyone is so consumed with ’90s throwback fashion that it might be time people threw it way back to the ’50s. As I watched Fox’s production, I kept wishing ’50s fashion would come back in style—poodle skirts, letterman jackets, vintage gym T-shirts—it’s a treasure trove just waiting for its revival.
Perhaps it’s time the promotional products industry leads the trend to give those 12.18 million viewers what they want. And with a variety of products already available, it’s easy to do just that.
Here are my picks for Pink Ladies- and Thunderbird-inspired promotional products.
